Golden Engineering designs and manufactures battery powered portable X-ray generators used for security and light industrial applications. With superior penetrating ability, the Golden portable x-ray generators are smaller and lighter than alternative technologies. In addition, the XR150. XR200, XRS3 and the largest generator the XRS4 are all extremely safe systems, they contain zero radioactive materials, have very minimal leakage and a very short exposure time making them one of the safest solutions available. Golden Engineering is the only manufacturer that utilises commercially available battery packs as a power supply for their portable x-ray generators, this ensures that packs can be easily sourced and replaced in almost any country globally.
XR150
The XR150 X-ray generator is a 150kV, battery powered, pulsed X-ray generator used primarily for security applications. Golden Engineering introduced the XR150 in 1993 for applications requiring extreme portability. The latest XR150 generators are power by DeWalt® Li-Ion battery technology. The 12V version is the smallest and lightest model Golden Engineering manufactures and slightly larger 20V version has the best performance and size combination in the industry.

XR200
The XR200 is a 150 kV, battery powered, pulsed X-ray generator used in security and light industrial applications. Golden Engineering introduced the XR200 in 1997 as the replacement of THE INSPECTOR X-ray Model 200.
Sharing the same electronics, housing design and battery pack as the XRS3 generator enhances the versatility of both models. A field replaceable tube and modular concept make the XR200 easy to service and maintain. The robust single package design withstands the extreme environments that field portable X-ray generators commonly encounter. The generator is powered by a DeWalt® battery pack that is available worldwide ensures the XR200 has a pulse rate of 25 pulses per second makeing it the fastest of all Golden Engineering models.

XRS3
The XRS3 is a 270 kV, battery powered, pulsed X-ray generator used in security and light industrial applications. Golden Engineering introduced the XRS3 in 2001 for applications that require greater penetration than the XR150 or XR200. The XRS3 penetrates up to one inch of steel when used with the Vidisco digital imaging system.
The XRS3 is one of our most versatile unit because it provides exceptional penetrating ability while being very compact. The design features a battery pack, robust glass tube, high voltage head, and the electronic controls in a single package that weighs less than 13 pounds. Operators can acquire spare battery packs at their convenience because the XRS3 is powered by the same commercially available battery packs that power DeWalt cordless tools. The XRS3 shares the same electronic controls and battery as the XR200 which enhances the versatility of both models.
The XRS3 has proven it can withstand extreme environments including Artic and desert conditions. The XRS3 is fully compatible with the Vidiso digital X-ray imaging systems to make a powerful and highly portable yet powerful X-ray system.
XRS4
The XRS4 is a 370 kV, battery powered, pulsed X-ray generator used in security and light industrial applications. Golden Engineering introduced the XRS4 in 2010 to provide a significant increase in penetrating ability compared to previous models.
The XRS-4 has the same concept as other models with a single package design that includes a DeWalt battery pack, high voltage head, sturdy glass tube, and electronic controls. Two features unique to the XRS-4 include a robust aluminum housing, and a bellows located in the handle. Both of these features were designed into the unit to improve the durability and longevity of the generator.
The electronics control module was updated in 2015 to include a menu based design that greatly enhances operator interface capabilities. The menu allows operators to change the pulse rate of the machine, set multiple pulse trains with appropriate rests between, in addition to tracking the life of the machine.
The XRS4 was redesigned in 2018 to incorporate the same modular housing as the other models. It is now powered by a DeWalt 20V battery and has an 80 character LCD and expanded menu options. The XRS4 is significantly larger and heavier than other Golden Engineering generators, but it boasts a 370 kv generator that penetrates more than 1.5 inches of steel while weighing less than 19 pounds is still considered extremely portable by industry standards.
XRS-MD
The XRS-MD is new to the Golden Generator X-ray range, the MD denotes that it is Multi-Directional allowing for front and rotational side beam in one unit. The MD series has field-interchangeable caps allowing for maximum adaptability for any situation. The Blue front beam cap is utilised where a forward X-ray beam is required, whereas the interchangeable Gold cap is used where tight spaces can hinder the operator and direct the X-ray beam to any angle out to the side.
The MD range of Golden X-ray generators boast and all new graphic display, it has larger text and graphics making it easier to read. The screen is designed to view in direct sunlight to improve visibility of the display in sunny climates, in addition to coloured text and a backlight aiding the reading in all eventualities. The new MD generators have the added benefit of a help button to access on-board context-sensitive help and a QR code, to access additional information online.
All-New Graphic Display
The Multi-Directional generators are available as an XRS3MD and the larger more powerful XRS4MD. Like all Golden Generators, the MD range is designed to be highly robust for operations in the most inhospitable of environments. The MD range is certified to IP54 and has an operating temperature range from -20 to 70 °C (-4 to 158 °F) making it a very dependable and an extremely adaptable piece of equipment.
